Hang on. We wait until after Christmas before the Australia Day culture wars and white guilt discussion don’t we? Pathetic.

The guilt I feel about what people did before my family even arrived in Australia is huge.

June to October is too long to go without a public holiday in NSW. If we are getting rid of Australia Day, put a public holiday in somewhere else where we need a long weekend.

I know people have a lot of strong opinions about this. But the problem won’t go away because of them.
It’s time to talk about some compromise we can all live with, instead of this national soul searching every year.

Starting this culture war bullshit a little early aren’t we? It’s still 126 days till Australia Day. But let’s get angry now I guess.
According to the [ABC ](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-01-24/council-citizenship-awards-moved-from-australia-day-january-26/103382548)many Indigenous Australians view January 26th as a day of mourning, marking the beginning of colonisation and the subsequent suffering of their communities. Councils have received feedback that holding celebrations on this date is hurtful and insensitive.
