The author’s original post makes it sound more like the issue is websites like Twitter & Reddit got greedy and started demanding large sums of money for access to the data. They don’t like AI and are blaming AI for the APIs becoming paid, but really its just greed from Reddit and Twitter that’s killing the project.

I bet human language usage is more polluted than ever before.
(I should explain this attempt at a joke. AI chatbots are obsessed with using the phrase “more [whatever] than ever before”.)
