Good news, but.. too little too late, they’ve had the numbers insanely high for their entire term.

When we have one job vacancy for every 2.4 unemployed people, which means people actively looking for work not people who don’t have jobs, we need to reassess our programs and limit international students to fields that we have a shortage of skilled workers for. I’m happy they are limiting them more but they need to limit the programs they can choose to study as well and make sure that they are successfully completing their programs.

At the very least, since we have such a surplus of labour, we should only be admitting students that can fund their studies without working.

  3. As someone mentioned based off https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2024/01/canada-to-stabilize-growth-and-decrease-number-of-new-international-student-permits-issued-to-approximately-360000-for-2024.html, they said that the “international student permits issued to approximately 360,000 for 2024.”

    But now it’s

In 2025, new international student study permits will be reduced by 10 per cent from the 2024 target of 485,000. That will mean 437,000 permits issued next year, with that same target continuing into 2026.

They’re increasing it? Am and the other person missing something? Why are the numbers in January different from the numbers they’re announcing now?

Canada has been fundamentally changed to its core. It’s already too late. People are unwilling to integrate and now we have tons of ethnic ghettos.

Only 10% reduction that’s almost negligible lol. This government is still, even after all the hate and backlash and polls and byelection losses, not listening to Canadians and speedrunning themselves into a devastating election loss. Can’t wait they deserve to lose official party status.

  6. Stopping the program is less than the bare minimum. Damage is done and will impact Canadians for years. Reversal of course is going to be necessary for actual palpable change.

They wouldn’t be walking it all back if they didn’t know it was gonna be damaging in the first place. This is just trying to hide their record in the hopes that people forget come election time.

    Yaaaaaa…..it’s always “Next year”. So
basically no change; same shit. Hoping we’ll all forget about it.
