The situation in Kharkiv is incredibly grim, Russia does not need to take the city to “put it out of play” where it can no longer be sufficiently utilised as a waypoint of logistics amongst the campaigns in the north and south of Ukraine.
IMO the Kursk Offensive was trying to pull troops outta Kharkiv and into Kursk but Russia reacted with a stone cold face. They haven’t budged much if at all. Nobody doubts the courage in which AFU fights with, people have had (quiet) doubts about their leadership capabilities.
A war of attrition is a war that Russia can win, any victory that Ukraine could reach in an attritional war will be pyrrhic in nature. Ukraines best chance at winning is establishing air superiority and knocking out key infrastructure in Russia’s heartland that makes continuing the war untenable.
Will that happen? Who can say.

Despite all the propaganda, most people knew Putin was winning. This war could never be won on the battlefield. You can keep funding it like USA did with Vietnam but ultimately would end the same way. It’s time to think of an end plan. Ukraine is running out of time.
