I’m a lefty but I’m also very into military strategy and history. During WW2 Australia was not too far from becoming a Japanese colony. It’s important to have a strong military to keep the peace.

Another day in Melbourne. Yep, the home of protests. This is a big one and I doubt if there are enough cops to deal with it. It’s only 10:30 am here and confrontation is escalating. Another day in paradise in one the most livable cities in the world. Oh well, it will all be over in a couple of days.

Yes, weapons are destructive and undesirable and we have an industry dedicated to fighting wars and to a degree depend on countries having conflict or we can see it as an industry that came about because humans and nations fight each other. For most, not all, weapons are for deterrence as most don’t actually want to fight wars. However a number use their weapons to threaten other nations if they get in their way to either invade or secure resources. We need a deterrence and an ability to defend ourselves and we need the ability to have such weapons as one day these protesters will be asking, who’s defending US, who’s protecting US, who’s going to stop the aggressor.

I think a lot of people are misleaded that these people are protesting against Australia having a defence force. They are protesting against the selling of weapons and profiting of off war which is affecting the results in the middle east
