Iran will be hit with new sanctions Tuesday for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced.

Speaking at a joint news conference in London with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Blinken said he expected Russia would begin using the missiles against Ukraine in the coming weeks.

The new sanctions include additional measures on Iran Air, the national carrier, Blinken said. “Anyone who proves assistance to Russia … is perpetuating the war, is perpetuating the conflict,” he added.

Give Ukraine ability to strike into Russia. It won’t be the end but it will reduce Russian ability.

  3. Don’t sanction, provide matching weapons capabilities to Ukraine. Simple. The only thing that will work to stop this.

  4. What is left to sanction? Not being facetious, genuinely curious.

Sanctions are only achieving one thing for US foreign policy and it’s the opposite of the desired effect – they are pushing these countries closer together with renewed economic cooperation. Unfortunately, the world’s factory is getting pushed into this bloc.

  5. Yep, that’ll show ’em we mean business. No need to lift restrictions on Ukraine or anything wimpy like that.

There’s a sick irony and contradiction in this with the US being the #1 supplier of missiles and other weaponry to Israel.

  7. At this point they do not care. What can we take from them that we haven’t tried already? They will just smuggle in what they want anyway.
