Russia continuing their pattern of making up charges against dual nationals so they can use them as bargaining chips for the release of Russian criminals detained by the US. At this point, it’s not a good idea for any dual national to be in Russia.

I’m curious to compare the amount of Americans that are locked up overseas on drug charges compared to here at home. A woman basketball player is exchanged for a noted Arms dealer. While Black women are sent to jail by the thousands. “But he’s innocent”, I wonder how many others are in prison that are equally innocent. As Stalin said, “The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic”, perhaps that is equally true of people jailed on drug charges.

This guy has an interesting backstory too. Adopted from Russia where he was abandoned by his mother (highly likely that she had substance abuse issues at the time).
